Previously you may have know this company as Boral Plasterboard, a company which has operated in Australia for more than sixty years. In February 2014 USG Corporation and Boral Limited announced their strategic joint venture, USG Boral Building Products. This company began as the dream of David Craig, who successfully petitioned for the incorporation of  BORAL, Bitumen and Oil Refineries (Australia) Limited in 1946. Land was purchased at Matraville on Botany Bay, New South Wales, and the first Australian-owned bitumen and oil refinery was officially opened just over a year later in March 1947.
